The 2019 Skoda Scala is the compact Skoda that will arrive in dealerships in the late spring of 2019. Spacious and hi-tech, it will also be methane.
2019 Skoda Scala Release Date
The Skoda Scala is a compact five-door, whose name was chosen precisely for its meaning in Latin: for the Skoda is a “top step” compared to the Rapid Spaceback that replaces. Based on the MQB A0 platform, used for the recent Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo, it is much larger: it is 436 cm long, 147 high and 179 wide. The first photos of the final car will only arrive in December (with the car debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, and deliveries from late spring), but we could see a preview sample. Well, the lines and the interiors are very similar to those of the Vision RS concept presented at the last Paris Motor Show. Here are the triangular headlights (also full led), a large chrome mask and thin horizontal development lights that wedged in a hatchback where the rear window extends downwards, above the sheet.
2019 Skoda Scala Interior & features
The interior of Skoda Scala is very spacious and practical: the drawer in front of the front passenger is refrigerated, the storage compartments are large and the trunk has a capacity of 467 liters, which pass to 1410 breaking down the back of the sofa. The compartment is equipped with ten hooks for bags and three mesh pockets under the parcel shelf, has a loading floor with variable height and the electric opening of the tailgate: a luxury car refinement. Evolved the multimedia system, entirely redesigned and with a perennial connection to the web, which will also be mounted on the following models of the Volkswagen group: the richest one has a 9.2-inch screen mounted cantilever in the center of the dashboard. Technological also the dashboard: optional there is the digital one with a display of 10, 25 ”.
2019 Skoda Scala Engine Specs
Wide choice of engines of the Skoda Scala, all turbo: petrol there are 1.0 with three pistons of 95 or 116 hp and 1.5 with four cylinders of 150 horses. Only diesel 1.6 TDI with 116 hp, while there will be a natural gas variant of the “thousand”, with 90 hp: the cylinders contain 14.2 kg of gas, while the petrol is only 9 liters. All engines, except the less powerful petrol, can be combined with the robotized gearbox with 6 or 7 ratios. And later, a hybrid version could arrive.
We were able to drive two samples of Skoda Scala preseries, with camouflaged bodywork: a 116 hp 1.0, with a six-speed manual transmission, and a 1.5 from a 150, combined with the automatic transmission. Both engines convince for the quietness (a feature that we also find on the 1.6 diesel, on which we traveled as passengers) and the reduced presence of vibrations (which only emerge “pulling the neck” at 1.5, and in the departures uphill with the 1.0). Correct both the “weight” and the reduction of steering: the Scala is a car that you drive with pleasure and in great relaxation.
Promoted also the changes of Skoda Scala: the manual has a well-defined stroke, although the grafts are a bit ‘contrast, while the robotized DSG double-clutch convinces by sweetness of changes and rapid rethe response. The two cars had different assets. The “thousand” was fitted with the standard one, which has a low-braking damper setting: the absorption of the roughness of the bottom is valid, but the car also has a tendency to “float” a little on the road. We were convinced more by the sporty one, lowered by one centimeter and with shock absorbers with two calibrations, selectable according to the driving mode: in neither the comfort is never missing (thanks also to the tires not too low, size 205 / 50 R 17, mounted on the Scale of the test) and the car is more precise and less “wavy” in the tortuous paths.
