The 2020 BMW 3 Series will be unveiled in a few weeks, to be on sale at the beginning of 2019, but the house has anticipated some features.
Here is All we know about the new BMW 3 Series
The appointment with the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series it’s for the Paris salon that will open its doors on October 4th. Sales should start in the first few months of 2019. Meanwhile, the Munich-based company released a series of photos taken on two prototypes of the car during the final tuning tests carried out on the Nürburgring track.
They are prototypes with the body camouflaged with the adhesive film but leave more than a glimpse of the line and the design solutions adopted. Just enough to say that the BMW 3 Series remains true to itself, with its line that does another evolution but without revolutions.
When you can see the car you can make more precise considerations, meanwhile, it is to be seen the unchanged immediate recognition as the BMW of the front, with perhaps a more pronounced tendency of the lines to aim downwards and to increase a little the curvilinear trend. Also, the trend of the roofline, a little more rounded, seems to be new.
2020 BMW 3 Series Redesign & Changes
Not perceptible from the images, but communicated from the house, are some news that affects the image of the new edition of the 2020 BMW 3 Series, codenamed G20. The changes concern the step, slightly increased, even if it is not communicated how much. Significant changes are then made to the height of the center of gravity, which is lower by one centimeter, and the width of the carriageway. As for the weight distribution, it is exactly 50:50. Compared to the current BMW 3 Series, the weight decreases by 55 kg. All built on the basis of the CLAR platform of the Munich house, like the major sisters Series 5 and 7, which makes greater use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and magnesium. With it, the structural rigidity of the body increases by 15-20%.
As you can see, this is a series of changes that can affect the car’s traffic behavior. And that the goal of the designers was to give the car the best available in terms of sealing and handling is also confirmed by the many interventions on the suspension, to bring the 2020 BMW 3 Series at the top of the handling and driving pleasure of its category . The components and geometry of the suspension have been revised, there are new electronically controlled shock absorbers and the self-locking differential (optional for the most powerful engines) derived from the current M3.
2020 BMW 3 Series Engine
The range of engines should be essentially similar to that of the current generation of the BMW 3 Series , with engines 3, 4 and 6 cylinders 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 displacement engines all equipped with the turbo. The house of Monaco is limited to say that the 4-cylinder petrol 2.0 of the 330i has been revised with various interventions that have increased the power (we assume about 250 hp) and decreased consumption by about 5%.
