2020 Toyota Yaris: Specs, Platform, Safety & Release Date
The 2020 Toyota Yaris is technological, new and aggressive. He made his debut at the New York Motor Show with a 106hp four-cylinder petrol engine
The new Toyota Yaris 2020 is unveiled at the New York Auto Show: the US market will, therefore, have a new version of the Japanese subcompact which, however, derives strictly from the Mazda2 which, in the overseas market, is not even imported.
The lines are much more aggressive than the previous variant: the large “mouth” of the front radiator, combined with Full LED optic assemblies with a sharp shape, put an assault-style on the plate. The rear, more conservative, keeps the stylistic features of Yaris more intact.
The Toyota Yaris Hatchback has a length of 4.10 meters and a trunk of 450 liters, respectable numbers for the category thanks to a compartment wider than 6 centimeters. Difficult to extrapolate other technical information, although it seems that the car will be integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the new 7-inch infotainment display.
2020 Toyota Yaris Specs
Under the hood, the car conceals a 1.5-liter four-cylinder in-line engine with 106hp of maximum power coupled to a continuously variable automatic transmission. For those looking for something more at the moment it is possible to go up with the versions, but (for the moment) not in terms of performance: the richer XLE mota leather seats, automatic climate, and wipers with rain detection.
Still, Toyota has not released information on prices and availability, information that should be disclosed by April 17 when the car will be launched at the New York Show. It is not even certain that the Japanese brand chooses to bring the 2020 Toyota Yaris to Europe as it was presented in the USA.
The 2020 Yaris Hatchback will come equipped as standard with a Low-speed Pre-collision Safety System in both model grades (standard on the Yaris Sedan, too). The system scans the road ahead for potential vehicle collisions.
If a potential frontal collision is detected, an audio/visual alert and braking assistance are designed to automatically activate. Should the driver not respond, this system may automatically apply the brakes.
The Yaris Hatchback comes standard with an advanced active safety system that includes:
- Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
- Traction Control System (TCS)
- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
- Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
- Brake Assist (BA), and Brake Override System (BOS)
- The array of six airbags includes curtain airbags that help protect front and rear seat occupants.
